A person’s brain determines how they experience the world around them.
These mere 3 pounds use 20% of your total body energy every day, processing about 60 000 thoughts daily. Scientific studies have established that 95% of these are recurrent and 80% are negative. In other words, we tend to think the same, leading us to act out of habit.
If you think what you’ve always thought, you’re gonna do what you’ve always done. And if you do what you’ve always done, you’re gonna get what you always got!
If you want to get out of this loop, and gain a positive outlook on life, you might be interested in shifting your self-limiting programs, and set your brain to support healthier, happier and more fulfilling choices.
This can be achieved with neuro-techniques as well as cognitive therapies, in order to address both the conscious and subconscious minds.
You might be unaware of it, but your subconscious controls 95% of your lives. It contains the programs which trigger your daily decisions, big or small; From what to eat, or what to buy, to whether to stay or leave a relationship, or a job.
There are ways to clear the programs which hinder your progress and replace them by new, improved ones that support your growth?
If you were to picture yourself as an iceberg, the conscious mind would be the visible part which thinks, analyses, and makes you act. The hidden, bigger part of the block would be the subconscious which determine the way you live and respond to challenges. It holds the keys to modify the negative patterns into upgraded programs to improve your life significantly.
Cognitive therapies only address the conscious mind but can help the neuroscience-based work done on the subconscious by reinforcing positive changes in your behaviours.
I find all techniques aiming at improving our life- experience interesting but truly believe that considering an issue from a holistic point of view is way more effective than solely considering one specific aspect of health.
As an example, it is not unusual that a reoccurring tension in the body (such as a back ache) is triggered by stress, anxiety or repressed emotions. No matter how good your physio is, the backache will be back when the specific trigger is actioned though your subconscious.
Holism considers the human as a complex system. The whole being is made of various parts interconnecting intimately. Each part cannot exist independently of the whole, and cannot be understood without reference to the whole, which is thus regarded as greater than the sum of its parts. This approach is often more suited than the ones specifically dealing with one aspect or another. The mind is a great slave but a dreadful master, and it is used to be in control.
